Home care
We recommend cold/cool washes. How laundry gets done is a personally preference, but the end result is that soap is the carrier to remove dirt and bacteria, and the water washes it all away. Load size should always be considered. Do not overstuff. The water needs to be able to have enough space to wash the clothes and adequate room to rinse away the dirt. Using cold water works great with Tangie laundry concentrate.
Yes, it is normal. It is called soap ash. The bar can produce ash as the bar continues to cure. It is unavoidable in the formulation. It doesn’t look pretty but completely inert and does not affect the bar. It wipes off easily if you want to wipe it off before use or storing the bar.
Your machine will ask what the concentration level is. Once you dissolve the Tangie Laundry Concentrate it is a 3x concentrate for your machine.
Our laundry soap dispensers fit regular any standard/regular mouth mason/canning/glass jar.
They are custom designed for Tangie and handmade with reclaimed wood from boat and dock projects in New York.
Yes, it can, but we do not recommend it. It is NOT formulated to dissolve efficiently and smoothly like Tangie Laundry Concentrate and Tangie Hand Wash Concentrate. The dish soap bar will eventually dissolve in water but will be thick and gelatinous and most likely will not dispenser easily from a pumper. Dissolving the dish soap bar will also reduce its cleaning efficacy, so you may end up using more of it than if you used it as a solid bar.
Salt is highly effective ingredient. When salt meets water, it creates a saline solution that can break down protein-based messes. Therefore, it makes a fantastic ingredient for dish washing soap.
Stains are a tricky topic. Because there are so many possible combinations between the stain maker and the fabrics there is no stain remover that works on EVERY stain. What we can say for sure, is that our customers have given us some amazing result reviews for stain combinations we could have never tested ourselves. To name a few that really surprised us…. toner ink removed from white carpet, blood stains removed from sheets, heat set food oil stains from clothes.
After the laundry paste is dissolved, we recommend you use it within 6 months, with the caveat that water is the breeding ground for mold. Of course, mold has a hard time growing on soap but if you feel you won’t be using up the dissolved laundry concentrate within 6 months, cut the bar in half and make less.
The laundry bar has a long shelf life of 3+ years. The outside of the laundry bar will develop soap ash which will not look pretty but it is completely safe and will not reduce the efficacy of the liquid laundry. We recommend you store your Tangie laundry bar in a dry location.
Tap water is fine unless you have really heavy iron well water. Then filtered water is recommended.
Tangie soap products are made with natural ingredients and are biodegradable. However, it is ALWAYS recommended, for all soaps (and all cleaning products), to be used and disposed of at least 200 feet away of any body of water.
Sometimes you need to do laundry right away. We get it! Our zero-waste laundry detergent is a concentrated paste and takes a several hours for one bar to completely dissolve (no stirring, mixing, or heating needed). If you need liquid laundry detergent sooner, cut the bar into 16 pieces and dissolve one piece in glass with 8 ounces of warm water. Stir it around a few times and it will be dissolved in about an hour.
Absolutely! Our founder, Angie Ringler, formulated the laundry concentrate to solve her own skin irritations. The laundry bar is formulated with gentle, plant-based ingredients that are perfect for sensitive skin. It’s free from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances.
Hair & Body
Great question. It’s not actually ingredients in soap that kills germs is the molecular makeup of soap that does it. Simply put, the soap attaches to the pathogens on your skin, and they rinse away with the water. The molecular make-up of soap is why soap is so effective at removing germs from your skin.
Yes, it can as it’s made with all good plant based and natural ingredients for happy skin, no matter what body part you use it on.
A great and common question. Yes, it can. We’ve had many customers give positive results using a pumper of their choice that is not a foamer. Other people do not like it. Because there is such a variety of pumpers on the market, we cannot guarantee your pumper will work as you intended. It is always best to refill and use something you already have but keep in mind, we recommend foaming pumpers because of the thin viscosity (fancy word how the liquid flows) of the hand wash soap once it’s dissolved into a liquid.
The conditioner bars are. Tangie round shampoo bars are made with sodium cocoa sulfate, which is a mild sulfate, compared to most shampoos. We have a completely sulfate free shampoo option that is recommend for use when using the Curly Girl Method for styling curly/wavy/kinky hair.
Yes it can. Obviously, we can not say for certain Tangie shampoo bars will work effectively for everyone but the mild surfactant ingredinet, sodium cocoa sulfate, is a great start to reducing the use of harsh chemcials on hair which can strip out too much of the natural oils. The oils are necessary for hair shaft to stay flat for that soft, less frizzy feel and appearance. Use a conditioner after shampooing to help smooth the shaft down, keeping the humidity out and the frizz to a minimum. Tangie offers a 30-day money back guarantee, so if the shampoo bar does not work well for you, please contact us for a refund or a replacement product. See details HERE.
There is no gluten in any of our shampoo and conditioner bars.
Yes! We get feedback from customers with a wide variety of hair care needs. From thin strands to dreadlocks, we have received plenty of positive feedback to confidently say it is good for all hair types.
Conditioners typically don’t lather because they are designed to smooth and moisturize hair, rather than cleanse it. Lather is usually associated with shampoos, which contain surfactants that create bubbles to help remove dirt and oil. If a conditioner has lather, it could be due to a surfactant-like ingredient included in the formula, possibly to enhance spread ability or give a more familiar ‘clean’ feeling. However, this is uncommon in traditional conditioners, as their primary function is to coat and hydrate the hair without foaming.
You can use it both ways. It can used as a leave-in or rinse out conditioner. There is more than one way to use a Tangie conditioner bar. 😃 Some people like the soft, creamy consistency. Others prefer it solid and rinse it out of their hair. Details on the several ways to use a Tangie conditioner bar can be found in the Conditioner Bar listing page under the drop down HOW TO USE THE CONDITIONER BAR.
The Tangie purple pigment shampoo bar will remove the yellow tint from blonde (and gray) hair leaving it bright, light and shiny!
Great question and we wrote an informative article about that HERE.
Pet care
Absolutely! Tangie pet shampoo bars effectively remove dirt and odor while leaving your pet’s coat fresh and clean without harsh fragrances.
Yes. Some people are concerned when they see neem oil as an ingredient. Neem oil should never be applied directly to pets’ skin, it needs to be diluted or with a carrier oil. Because the neem oil is blended into the bar, it is safe for direct contact. Tangie Pet Shampoo bars have added ingredients such as neem oil and aloe vera which is great for most four-legged friends.
