Tangie Laundry Paste Concentrate is a solid bar of laundry soap ingredients you dissolve to make the best zero waste laundry detergent at home. Pair with our natural Stain Remover Stick for even more cleaning power on the oops moments in life.
- Leaping Bunny certified cruelty free laundry detergent.
- The Environmental Working Group (EWG.org) gave Tangie laundry soap an ‘A’ rating for consumer safety.
- The laundry bar packaging is plastic-free and can be recycled or home composted.
- No optical brighteners = safe for military fatigues. (If you served in the armed forces, we are grateful for your service and that you made it home from battle.)
Tangie LLC is a plastic neutral company through our financial partnership through CleanHub and sponsorship to the Goa hub to remove ocean bound plastic waste BEFORE it enters our beautiful oceans.
The laundry detergent bar MUST be dissolved in water first! But no real effort is required. Just drop the bar into water and let it dissolve overnight.
Use regular tap water. No hot water, no stirring or mixing required.
Each detergent bar dissolves to make ONE GALLON of liquid laundry soap giving you 128+ loads of laundry, depending on your laundry load size and stink. That is less than $0.20 per load!
If you can handle dissolving sugar in water, you can make this refillable laundry liquid. Tangie Laundry is a concentrated paste-to-liquid formulation you dissolve at home by placing the bar (or a piece of the bar) into a container of your choice and fill that container with water. That’s all it takes.
CUSTOMIZE THE AMOUNT OF REFILLABLE LAUNDRY DETERGENT YOU MAKE:
You do NOT need to dissolve the entire bar of Tangie Laundry Concentrate all at one time. The entire laundry bar dissolves to make one gallon of liquid laundry soap. That might be too much to lift or even fit in the container you are starting with.
Simply cut the laundry bar into 4 equal parts and each piece can be dissolved into 32 ounces of water. TIP: 1 Liter (32 ounces) of liquid laundry detergent is a much easier amount to lift and pour!
Store the unused pieces in a container to keep them dry. Shelf life for the undissolved pieces is > 2 years. After you have dissolved the laundry concentrate, we recommend you use the liquid laundry soap within 6 months.
CONTAINER CHOICES:
Any container will do! Don’t over think it. You choose the best laundry detergent dispenser that works for you.
The best is to reuse your old laundry jug once it is empty. Plastic laundry jugs are strong and usually have a handle with a build in measuring cap.
Want a prettier container or don’t have an empty laundry jug?
You can use a mason jar, juice bottle, water jug…honestly, any container that fits easily in your hand for you to dispense the zero waste liquid laundry detergent. You only need 1-2 ounces (or less!) of liquid per load, so choose a container that is easy to pour a small amount from.
Further down is more to read about how much liquid to use per load.
We offer a handy solution if you want to use a mason jar.
We partnered with a wood worker in New York to make this customized laundry soap dispensing lid.
Tangie custom laundry detergent dispenser lid fits any standard mouth mason jar (or empty Veganaise jar), turning it into glass laundry bottle. These lids are made especially for Tangie using reclaimed wood discarded from boat building projects, so they withstand water like a sailor!
But don’t overthink it!
Any container that holds water will do. Just get started. Don’t wait for the perfect container before you start on your journey of using plastic-free laundry detergent. Start eliminating plastic laundry bottles from your life now and tweak the container, if needed, as you go. The right container to start dissolving the laundry soap bar in could be an empty bottle of orange juice, mayonnaise, or pasta sauce; the options are endless.
Think of all the containers you put into your recycling bin. Start there and choose something that is easy to hold and pour from. Your plastic-free laundry routine is more about refilling your container, not just about using a non-plastic container.
CHOOSE WHAT WORKS FOR YOU:
It’s about time you get to choose a laundry container that works for you, your hands, your ability to lift, your shelf space, or if you just want a beautiful look for your laundry room.
We provide you with the best eco-friendly laundry detergent, made with concentrated effective, natural ingredients and you get to decide what you dissolve it in. This plastic free laundry detergent laundry alternative works like your current liquid laundry product, just without the chemicals and plastic bottle waste.
Choosing your own container is a great benefit you do not get from your current brand.
Going plastic-free is great but reusing plastic first is even better.
Don’t buy something new when you already have something that will work. For instance, if you start with an empty 32-ounce orange juice bottle, you will first cut the Laundry Concentrate bar into 4 equal parts and dissolve only one part in that bottle with 32 ounces of water.
Plenty of customers, including our company founder, dissolve the entire bar into a gallon container and from that refills a smaller, more manageable bottle to easily dispenser the one-ounce of laundry liquid.
It’s much easier to pour one-ounce of liquid into your washing machine from a smaller bottle than it is to pour from a gallon jug. A sustainable laundry routine starts with the ability to stop buying disposable containers. Here’s where you start refilling using a environmentally friendly laundry detergent and stop disposing.

WHY LESS CAN BE MORE
Laundry soap for sensitive skin can be hard to find. But Tangie’s vegan laundry detergent was developed by a red head with sensitive skin to resolve her own skin irritations to store bought products. This is the best plastic free laundry detergent not only because it reduces waste but it works as an effective laundry soap for delicate clothes and delicate skin.
The marketing mavens of the world have been telling us for decades that we need more of everything. But we now know that less can be more, with ingredients, with packaging and with the amounts we use to achieve the results we need. You will be tempted to use more liquid than is probably needed. We have all been well trained by the advertisements telling us to fill the cap with laundry soap and pour it into the machine. You will be surprised how well Tangie laundry soap works and how little it takes!
PRO TIP: Do not overstuff your washing machine. All washing machine manufacturers recommend:
- Clothes should be able to move around easily inside the washer.
- Do not fill the tub more than three-quarters full. This will allow the clothes to move around freely and get evenly clean.
- For a front-load washing machine, pile the clothes up high, but don’t cram them past the last row of holes closest to the door at the front.
- When washing a large load of laundry, it’s better to split it into two smaller loads. Not only will this be easier on your washing machine, but it will also save you time in the long run.
If you’re like most people, you probably stuff as many clothes as possible into your washing machine in order to save time and energy.
However, this isn’t the best way to get your clothes clean. In fact, overloading your washer can actually damage your clothes and make them dirtier because there is inadequate space for them to rinse properly.
So next time you’re tempted to overload your washing machine, remember that less is more.

Don’t know enough about it just yet… It seems very promising… This is our second batch of laundry soap. My wife does the laundry so I don’t know if she is happy with it or not… We definitely like the idea of NO NEW PLASTIC BOTTLES. It’s a little problem to dislove it. But, surely we can get in the habit of disolving it. Thank you for trying!! Keep up the good work for the environment. We definitely don’t like plastic!! Sincerely, Maggie and Christopher (Chris)
Angie Ringler –
Hi Maggie and Chris, thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for giving our laundry soap a try (twice now—yay!). 🌿 We’re thrilled to hear you share our passion for ditching plastic bottles, and we truly appreciate your commitment to making this small adjustment for the sake of the planet.
As for dissolving the bar, it can take a little practice, but once it becomes part of your routine, we hope it feels easier. If Maggie has any feedback to share, we’d love to hear it too—it helps us improve!
Thank you for your kind words and for being part of the solution to reduce plastic waste. Together, we’re making a difference! 💚

Im dying to use this kind of products, but I’m sooooo allergic to coconut 🥲🥲 I always get so excited when I see waste free products, only to be disappointed that it’s yet again based on coconut. Would love to see one without coconut!
Angie Ringler –
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us! 💚 We truly appreciate your excitement about waste-free products and understand how frustrating it can be to find options that work with your allergies. Coconut is a common ingredient in many eco-friendly products due to its versatility, but we completely hear you and value your input.
Your suggestion is noted, and it’s definitely something we’ll keep in mind as we explore future formulations. Our goal is to create products that more people can enjoy while staying true to our zero-waste mission. Thank you for being part of this journey with us—we’re so grateful for your voice in our community! 🌿

I’m extremely pleased with this laundry bar. I’ve tried all kinds of “natural” detergents, including liquids, powders, sheets, even soap nuts! None have compared to Tangie’s in terms of overall ease, cost, convenience, sustainability, and effectiveness. Fan for life!
Angie Ringler –
Wow—thank you so much for your glowing review! 🌟 We’re absolutely thrilled to hear that our laundry bar has impressed you and stood out among so many natural options. Knowing it checks all the boxes for ease, cost, convenience, sustainability, and effectiveness makes us so proud.
We’re beyond grateful to have you as a fan for life! Your kind words and support truly mean the world to us. Cheers to many more laundry loads filled with clean clothes and eco-friendly goodness! 💚

I’ve only been using for a little while, but it seems to be working! I love that it’s less packaging, and obnoxious smell, and is still so simple! Also, as someone whose laundry area is right in the open, it’s much prettier! (I am using an empty glass jar that I think lemon juice came in, with a decorative pattern to it. It holds 16 oz, and has a small opening, so it works perfectly to cut the bar up into smaller chunks)
I also want to note the customer service- also 5 stars! My order seems to have gotten lost (still hoping it shows up and I can share with a friend) but when I contacted them, they responded right away (after hours and weekends!) with some advice and then when it still didn’t show, they sent me a replacement along with a sample of the stain stick. Thank you!

I am on my second bar. Have had good results with the detergent and even my very particular husband has not had anything negative to say about it. I am so excited to use a good, eco friendly, safe product. I also recently bought one for my sister. Thinking they may be great stocking stuffers to get others on board!
Angie Ringler –
So happy to hear you’re having a positive laundry experience and zero negative feedback from your hubby about it. Thats always a good thing! [wink]
We appreciate your business and that you took the time to leave a review for other customers to benefit from.

This is my new favorite detergent! I love how waste free it is, and it does an amazing job on my laundry! I was so skeptical at first, especially with how little you have to use, but I just trusted in the product, and used the recommended amount, and it’s done an amazing job! I also love the wooden topper you can buy for a mason jar! Give it a try, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!!!
Angie Ringler –
Welcome to the Tangie family and we love that you took the time to leave a review about your positive experience with the laundry concentrate. Thank you!

Works great. I have no complaints at all. Dissolves pretty quickly and seems to keep my clothes clean. No complaints!

Yay! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your positive experience with our laundry concentrate! We appreciate you, the review, and your business.

I absolutely love your laundry soap. Every aspect is thought through, (no)packaging and all, and it works so well! I tried all kinds of alternative, more eco friendly detergents before, but I was not really happy with either of them. I used to buy Zum laundry soap for years, it works and smells great, but it’s in that plastic bottle… I love the idea of laundry sheets and tried different kinds until I realized that they don’t wash well and also contain questionable ingredients. So frustrating. The Tangie soap is the answer for sure. It’s terrific! Thank you!
Bryanna –
I’ve used several bars of this soap in the past couple of years and really love it! I love how gentle it is and it really does make my laundry feel clean – even though I think I might use less than the recommended amount (the bottle I use for laundry is quite small so I cut up the block into tiny pieces – one bar makes 10 bottles for me). I don’t care to measure so I eyeball it and have been having good luck with it :) Cutting it up and mixing the bottle is a therapeutic experience, like a methodical morning coffee. As for the packaging, I reuse the paper slips to write notes and keep my other naked soap bars from melting into each other, just in case anyone needs any ideas.
Erin –
I have bought dozens of bars of this laundry soap! I have used it for years on all our washing (including dog beds, and inning shoes, silk items) with great results. I love that it’s so easy to stock up and keep extras so I never run out but it doesn’t take up much space. And my kids looooove cutting it up to make a new batch.
Angie Ringler –
Thank you for your repeat business! We love that the laundry concentrate is working for you and your whole family. Thank you for teaching your kids about natural and sustainable options too!

Thank you Annie for such a lovely review. It will surely encourage more and more people to take the zero waste route in their daily routines.
Marty S. –
I’m a real zero waste and sustainable person —2 years plus on average producing 1 bag of trash— and I’m very disappointed in the shipping method.
I ordered 1 item, to experiment with, and selected the no packaging option. And, to make sure i hit the point home, I put in the shipping notes “please ship in as little packaging as possible”.
The Laundry Bar came double wrapped (!!), once in white paper, then in brown. Totally unnecessary and not “Zero Waste”!
In addition, they sent a “Free” (Nothing is FREE, everything has a cost) sample of concentrated hand soap, that I did not ask for and will not use, wrapped in printed paper, as well as an additional bar of boxed laundry soap to “Thank me for caring”…..WTF? Caring would have been if they sent me the bar, with nothing else, and at MAX, wrapped it in brown paper.
So frustrated. Very unnecessary.
Plus, they have 2 websites… how confusing for the same company, selling the same things?!
Angie Ringler –
HI Marty. Thank you for taking time to leave a review. Let me address your concerns the best I can. Our apologies that you did not care for the free sample and extra full size bar of free laundry concentrate you received in your order. If you are not going to use them, please pay them forward to a friend who would like to try natural products.
The free sample of hand wash is something we like to include when a Laundry Concentrate is order. It is the best way we know to use up the unsellable bits of hand wash leftover from the production process. We donate most of the ‘scraps’ to local non-profits and give it away to our wholesale customers then the rest we divide up into small .25 ounce samples which we put in orders for people to get to make one cup of liquid hand wash. Since the hand wash concentrate has to be dissolved like the laundry concentrate, we made the assumption that customers who order the laundry concentrate would also appreciate trying a free sample of the hand wash concentrate before making the investment in a full-size bar.
Today, after receiving your email about your review, I spoke with our warehouse staff and they will no longer be wrapping package-free bars in the extra bit of kraft paper.
Sadly, this is a point that goes both ways with customers. We started wrapping our concentrate bars in the extra layer of kraft paper as a result of customer feedback like yours. In the past, when shipping the bars only wrapped in the thin white paper, a few customers complained that when the concentrate bars arrived, a section of the bar was smushed in transit and some of the soap stuck to the inside of the paper envelope, and they didn’t appreciate that. So, we took their feedback into consideration and began wrapping the package-free bars in an extra layer of reused kraft paper.
As you can see, it is hard to please everyone. We do our best to keep packaging to a minimum and plastic free while trying to balance how aggressive the packages are handled in transit by the shipping carriers. By the way, the thin white paper the bars and samples are wrapped in are actually the bottom half of the packing slips that we cut off and reuse instead of printing full page packing slips. We tried to get rid of using packing slips, but after surveying our customers and some non-customers, more than 50% of those asked responded saying they want a packing slip in an order.
As for the two websites Tangie LLC has, that was a choice we made last year when deciding to improve the online customer experience. Since our first website, wastefreeproducts.com was already well established with organic traffic, it would not be beneficial to turn it off or forward it to a the URL, Tangieco.com. So, at the advice of people with much more knowledge than me on these types of business scenarios, it was determined the best thing to do was to start a new website designed to showcase the Tangie line of products. It was not an easy decision for me, and it was an expensive choice, yet a choice that was necessary in growing my business to meet the needs of Tangie customers. The future goal, when the budget allows, is to turn wastefreeproducts.com into a curated marketplace where I can showcase many other fabulous low waste, natural, and eco products that I, and the Tangie team, use in our daily lives.
In response to your email this morning, where you threatened legal action for suppressing your review you posted 5 days ago I want to let you know we currently have 81 spam comments to review, and posting reviews to our site is not something we do weekly. We post and reply to them when we can.
For anyone else reading this, I want them to have an accurate understanding of why my reply is so lengthy.
Here is the exact email I received from Marty this morning …
“I recently purchased your product and posted a review on your website. However, the review is not present. I ask that you post my review within 7 days. If you do not, I will investigate taking action against Tangie LLC for false advertisement by your company and green-washing. This will be in relation to both your “package free” statement, which is not true, and to the “no plastic comment”, which is not true either as you used a piece of scotch tape. In addition, we will investigate how many negative reviews you have suppressed on your website and other platforms that your products are offered. The actions that we might take could be exposure to a plethora of green review sites to independently and investigate the facts about what you are doing, as well as potential legal actions. We hope that we see out review withing the week. Marty “
In closing, I will say, I am grateful for your feedback Marty, honestly, I wish more people cared about packaging like you do! I hope you will find some grace and understanding that Tangie LLC is doing the best we can every day to choose great ingredients, less wasteful packaging and shipping practices. Thank you, Angie
Lynne Hetherington –
I love this laundry soap. I have not used commercial laundry soap in many years and this is by far the best product I have used – including the laundry soap I used to make. I use the recommended amount even though it doesn’t seem like enough and have lovely clean clothes.
Michelle W –
I switched to this laundry detergent and I’m so impressed how well it works. My clothes are so clean after! Plus, I know it’s safe for the environment and knowing there’s no chemicals in our clothes is the best feeling!
ellymoloney –
I have been using this laundry paste for years and it still amazes me how small of an amount you need for a load of laundry. And I have never had any icky gasket funk or odor like I did with every major brand I used in my front loading washer.
Aishwarya –
Thank you Elly for your lovely review and insight on how well our laundry bar performs with all natural ingredients. Its social proof to the fact that chemicals are unnecessary and we can always turn to mother nature for variety of ingredients!
Mikkel Haas –
Great soap. I switched over about 6 months ago and won’t be going back.
Angie Ringler –
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We are thrilled Tangie Laundry Concentrate is working so well for you.
christian.austin –
Good laundry soap. Does well at removing both odors and dirt. Using the indicated amounts is adequate, sparse as it might seem.
Angie Ringler –
Thank you for pointing out to use the recommended amounts. It is a small amount but effective. Traditional brands have trained us well through marketing to use lots of laundry liquid per load, so it takes some retraining to get used to pouring in an ounce or less! Thank you for leaving a review today.
