Easy to use! Simply add the bar to a gallon of water and let it dissolve. It makes a gallon of liquid laundry detergent! Cut the bar into small pieces to make the amount of liquid that works for your chosen container. Use one ounce of liquid per load. That is less than $0.20 per load!

One bar makes enough liquid for 128 – 264 loads of laundry, depending on load size and stink level.

How to Use Tangie Laundry Detergent Concentrate

The laundry detergent bar MUST be dissolved in water first! But no real effort is required. Just drop the bar into water and let it dissolve overnight.

Use regular tap water. No hot water, no stirring or mixing required.

Each detergent bar dissolves to make ONE GALLON of liquid laundry soap giving you 128+ loads of laundry, depending on your laundry load size and stink. That is less than $0.20 per load!

If you can handle dissolving sugar in water, you can make this refillable laundry liquid. Tangie Laundry is a concentrated paste-to-liquid formulation you dissolve at home by placing the bar (or a piece of the bar) into a container of your choice and fill that container with water. That’s all it takes.

CUSTOMIZE THE AMOUNT OF REFILLABLE LAUNDRY DETERGENT YOU MAKE:

You do NOT need to dissolve the entire bar of Tangie Laundry Concentrate all at one time. The entire laundry bar dissolves to make one gallon of liquid laundry soap. That might be too much to lift or even fit in the container you are starting with.

Simply cut the laundry bar into 4 equal parts and each piece can be dissolved into 32 ounces of water. TIP: 1 Liter (32 ounces) of liquid laundry detergent is a much easier amount to lift and pour!

Store the unused pieces in a container to keep them dry. Shelf life for the undissolved pieces is > 2 years. After you have dissolved the laundry concentrate, we recommend you use the liquid laundry soap within 6 months.

CONTAINER CHOICES:

Any container will do! Don’t over think it. You choose the best laundry detergent dispenser that works for you.

The best is to reuse your old laundry jug once it is empty. Plastic laundry jugs are strong and usually have a handle with a build in measuring cap.

Want a prettier container or don’t have an empty laundry jug?

You can use a mason jar, juice bottle, water jug…honestly, any container that fits easily in your hand for you to dispense the zero waste liquid laundry detergent. You only need 1-2 ounces (or less!) of liquid per load, so choose a container that is easy to pour a small amount from.

Further down is more to read about how much liquid to use per load.

We offer a handy solution if you want to use a mason jar.

We partnered with a wood worker in New York to make this customized laundry soap dispensing lid.

Tangie custom laundry detergent dispenser lid fits any standard mouth mason jar (or empty Veganaise jar), turning it into glass laundry bottle. These lids are made especially for Tangie using reclaimed wood discarded from boat building projects, so they withstand water like a sailor!

But don’t overthink it!

Any container that holds water will do. Just get started. Don’t wait for the perfect container before you start on your journey of using plastic-free laundry detergent. Start eliminating plastic laundry bottles from your life now and tweak the container, if needed, as you go. The right container to start dissolving the laundry soap bar in could be an empty bottle of orange juice, mayonnaise, or pasta sauce; the options are endless.

Think of all the containers you put into your recycling bin. Start there and choose something that is easy to hold and pour from. Your plastic-free laundry routine is more about refilling your container, not just about using a non-plastic container.

CHOOSE WHAT WORKS FOR YOU:

It’s about time you get to choose a laundry container that works for you, your hands, your ability to lift, your shelf space, or if you just want a beautiful look for your laundry room.

We provide you with the best eco-friendly laundry detergent, made with concentrated effective, natural ingredients and you get to decide what you dissolve it in. This plastic free laundry detergent laundry alternative works like your current liquid laundry product, just without the chemicals and plastic bottle waste.

Choosing your own container is a great benefit you do not get from your current brand.

Going plastic-free is great but reusing plastic first is even better.

Don’t buy something new when you already have something that will work. For instance, if you start with an empty 32-ounce orange juice bottle, you will first cut the Laundry Concentrate bar into 4 equal parts and dissolve only one part in that bottle with 32 ounces of water.

Plenty of customers, including our company founder, dissolve the entire bar into a gallon container and from that refills a smaller, more manageable bottle to easily dispenser the one-ounce of laundry liquid.

It’s much easier to pour one-ounce of liquid into your washing machine from a smaller bottle than it is to pour from a gallon jug. A sustainable laundry routine starts with the ability to stop buying disposable containers. Here’s where you start refilling using a environmentally friendly laundry detergent and stop disposing.

WHY LESS CAN BE MORE

Laundry soap for sensitive skin can be hard to find. But Tangie’s vegan laundry detergent was developed by a red head with sensitive skin to resolve her own skin irritations to store bought products. This is the best plastic free laundry detergent not only because it reduces waste but it works as an effective laundry soap for delicate clothes and delicate skin.

The marketing mavens of the world have been telling us for decades that we need more of everything. But we now know that less can be more, with ingredients, with packaging and with the amounts we use to achieve the results we need. You will be tempted to use more liquid than is probably needed. We have all been well trained by the advertisements telling us to fill the cap with laundry soap and pour it into the machine. You will be surprised how well Tangie laundry soap works and how little it takes!

PRO TIP: Do not overstuff your washing machine. All washing machine manufacturers recommend:

  • Clothes should be able to move around easily inside the washer.
  • Do not fill the tub more than three-quarters full. This will allow the clothes to move around freely and get evenly clean.
  • For a front-load washing machine, pile the clothes up high, but don’t cram them past the last row of holes closest to the door at the front.
  • When washing a large load of laundry, it’s better to split it into two smaller loads. Not only will this be easier on your washing machine, but it will also save you time in the long run.

If you’re like most people, you probably stuff as many clothes as possible into your washing machine in order to save time and energy.

However, this isn’t the best way to get your clothes clean. In fact, overloading your washer can actually damage your clothes and make them dirtier because there is inadequate space for them to rinse properly.

So next time you’re tempted to overload your washing machine, remember that less is more.
