The laundry detergent bar MUST be dissolved in water first! But no real effort is required. Just drop the bar into water and let it dissolve overnight.

Each detergent bar dissolves to make ONE GALLON of liquid laundry soap, giving you 128+ loads of laundry, depending on your laundry load size and stink. That is less than $0.20 per load!
If you can handle dissolving sugar in water, you can make this refillable laundry liquid. Tangie Laundry is a concentrated paste-to-liquid formulation you dissolve at home by placing the bar (or a piece of the bar) into a container of your choice and fill that container with water. That’s all it takes.
Customize The Amount of Refillable Laundry Detergent You Make –
You do NOT need to dissolve the entire bar of Tangie Laundry Concentrate all at one time. The entire laundry bar dissolves to make one gallon of liquid laundry soap. That might be too much to lift or even fit in the container you are starting with.
Simply cut the laundry bar into 4 equal parts, and each piece can be dissolved into 32 ounces of water.
Tip: 1 Liter (32 ounces) of liquid laundry detergent is a much easier amount to lift and pour!
Store the unused pieces in a container to keep them dry. Shelf life for the undissolved pieces is > 2 years. After you have dissolved the laundry concentrate, we recommend that you use the liquid laundry soap within 6 months.
Container Choice:
Any container will do! Don’t overthink it. You choose the best laundry detergent dispenser that works for you.
The best is to reuse your old laundry jug once it is empty. Plastic laundry jugs are strong and usually have a handle with a build in measuring cap.
Want a prettier container or don’t have an empty laundry jug?
You can use a mason jar, juice bottle, water jug…honestly, any container that fits easily in your hand for you to dispense the zero-waste liquid laundry detergent. You only need 1-2 ounces (or less!) of liquid per load, so choose a container that is easy to pour a small amount from.

This is my first laundry bar purchased. I was originally going to try and create my own laundry soap but there are too many negatives about using homemade laundry soap in a front load washer. After searching and searching online, I came across Tangie Laundry Bar. I love that this product is toxic free. I made my first batch in a mason jar and have washed quite a few loads of laundry. I use just one tablespoon per regular load (the measuring lids are just a little expensive to purchase). I just wish that the clothes would have a little scent after they are washed.

I am almost done with my first couple laundry bars. They clean well! They were very easy to just cut in half and put into an empty laundry bottle. Just add water and let dissolve. I recently bought the Tangie Laundry soap bar for myself as I was getting tired of the usual traditional, heavily scented laundry options.
Here is what I really think about this laundry bar soap:
+ The lasts longer than traditional laundry truly holds up! I bought it in August, and I still have two blocks of lit left [This will last 3+ months by my estimation]
+ Unscented but packs a punch! My gym clothes felt really clean.
+ Cleaning power is noticeable; most laundry detergents hide behind the overwhelming scent but hardly clean your clothes, but this does the job for you.
But, that said, if it’s your first time using an unscented laundry paste/bar/detergent:
If anything smells off after drying, the clothes weren’t fully cleaned. [I felt my clothes were really clean after using the Tangie laundry for the first few times]
It has no residue when you rub your fingers across the fabric. [The biggest positive of this laundry bar, zero residue; just follow the instructions they give!]

Exactly what I was looking for! I wanted to completely move away from plastic especially microplastics. This product works well, is unscented and checked all my boxes. I keep 2 glass quart sized bottles because it does take awhile to dissolve so I make sure that I have a bottle that is in use and a second bottle dissolving/waiting. I really love the mission of this company, and have made it my life’s goal to do my part for the planet. So, after seeing someone on Instagram using this product, I was excited to try a safe and non-toxic alternative that was zero waste. I saved an old wheat germ jar, cut the bar into the recommended piece sizes, and after letting the concentrate dilute for a couple of hours, it was ready to use. The smell is earthy, which for me is a natural review note, and the consistency is just water, really, with bubbles once you shake it to remix the settled solution. I used this on many loads of laundry with various temperature settings to be as thorough as possible, and here are my observations. I could not really tell that my clothes were clean, there was no smell that I looked for, and nothing was left on the clothes either. But in terms of cleaning power, which is the main purpose of detergent, this concentrate bar is as effective as warm water. I washed many loads with stains, and they came out exactly the same. To be extra sure, I would take them from the dryer and put them in the washer for the next cycle to see if they would come out. I even used to stain stick remover. The stains never came out, from really small ones to larger ones. I love the idea of the product, but I wanted a product that would be able to clean my clothes, and this does the same thing as water, which is bad for my wallet and leaves me feeling frustrated because I have to spend money on another detergent when I already have one that just doesn’t work. The ingredients in here are just not good enough for general laundry because of the eco lens. Cleaning performance was sacrificed for sustainability and zero waste, but I know there is a better equilibrium out there. Compared to the best brands like Tide, this is the lowest their of detergent for cleaning power. I would love to see another version released that has stronger ingredients for an effective clean because this was a waste of my money, and makes me want to go back to brand names like Tide. Then, I won’t have to worry whether my clothes are clean or not. I will continue to use this until I am out, but I will not be buying this again. Thanks for reading.

I’ve only been using for a little while, but it seems to be working! I love that it’s less packaging, and obnoxious smell, and is still so simple! Also, as someone whose laundry area is right in the open, it’s much prettier! (I am using an empty glass jar that I think lemon juice came in, with a decorative pattern to it. It holds 16 oz, and has a small opening, so it works perfectly to cut the bar up into smaller chunks)
I also want to note the customer service- also 5 stars! My order seems to have gotten lost (still hoping it shows up and I can share with a friend) but when I contacted them, they responded right away (after hours and weekends!) with some advice and then when it still didn’t show, they sent me a replacement along with a sample of the stain stick. I absolutely love your laundry soap. Every aspect is thought through, (no)packaging and all, and it works so well! I tried all kinds of alternative, more eco friendly detergents before, but I was not really happy with either of them. I used to buy Zum laundry soap for years, it works and smells great, but it’s in that plastic bottle… I love the idea of laundry sheets and tried different kinds until I realized that they don’t wash well and also contain questionable ingredients. I’ve used several bars of this soap in the past couple of years and really love it! I love how gentle it is and it really does make my laundry feel clean – even though I think I might use less than the recommended amount (the bottle I use for laundry is quite small so I cut up the block into tiny pieces – one bar makes 10 bottles for me). I don’t care to measure so I eyeball it and have been having good luck with it :) Cutting it up and mixing the bottle is a therapeutic experience, like a methodical morning coffee. As for the packaging, I reuse the paper slips to write notes and keep my other naked soap bars from melting into each other, just in case anyone needs any ideas.

I’m a real zero waste and sustainable person —2 years plus on average producing 1 bag of trash— and I’m very disappointed in the shipping method.
I ordered 1 item, to experiment with, and selected the no packaging option. And, to make sure i hit the point home, I put in the shipping notes “please ship in as little packaging as possible”.
The Laundry Bar came double wrapped (!!), once in white paper, then in brown. Totally unnecessary and not “Zero Waste”!
In addition, they sent a “Free” (Nothing is FREE, everything has a cost) sample of concentrated hand soap, that I did not ask for and will not use, wrapped in printed paper, as well as an additional bar of boxed laundry soap to “Thank me for caring”…..WTF? Caring would have been if they sent me the bar, with nothing else, and at MAX, wrapped it in brown paper.
So frustrated. Very unnecessary.
Plus, they have 2 websites… how confusing for the same company, selling the same things?!

Our apologies that you did not care for the free sample and extra full size bar of free laundry concentrate you received in your order. If you are not going to use them, please pay them forward to a friend who would like to try natural products.
The free sample of hand wash is something we like to include when a Laundry Concentrate is order. It is the best way we know to use up the unsellable bits of hand wash leftover from the production process. We donate most of the ‘scraps’ to local non-profits and give it away to our wholesale customers then the rest we divide up into small .25 ounce samples which we put in orders for people to get to make one cup of liquid hand wash. Since the hand wash concentrate has to be dissolved like the laundry concentrate, we made the assumption that customers who order the laundry concentrate would also appreciate trying a free sample of the hand wash concentrate before making the investment in a full-size bar.
Today, after receiving your email about your review, I spoke with our warehouse staff and they will no longer be wrapping package-free bars in the extra bit of kraft paper.
Sadly, this is a point that goes both ways with customers. We started wrapping our concentrate bars in the extra layer of kraft paper as a result of customer feedback like yours. In the past, when shipping the bars only wrapped in the thin white paper, a few customers complained that when the concentrate bars arrived, a section of the bar was smushed in transit and some of the soap stuck to the inside of the paper envelope, and they didn’t appreciate that. So, we took their feedback into consideration and began wrapping the package-free bars in an extra layer of reused kraft paper.
As you can see, it is hard to please everyone. We do our best to keep packaging to a minimum and plastic free while trying to balance how aggressive the packages are handled in transit by the shipping carriers. By the way, the thin white paper the bars and samples are wrapped in are actually the bottom half of the packing slips that we cut off and reuse instead of printing full page packing slips. We tried to get rid of using packing slips, but after surveying our customers and some non-customers, more than 50% of those asked responded saying they want a packing slip in an order.
As for the two websites Tangie LLC has, that was a choice we made last year when deciding to improve the online customer experience. Since our first website, wastefreeproducts.com was already well established with organic traffic, it would not be beneficial to turn it off or forward it to a the URL, Tangieco.com. So, at the advice of people with much more knowledge than me on these types of business scenarios, it was determined the best thing to do was to start a new website designed to showcase the Tangie line of products. It was not an easy decision for me, and it was an expensive choice, yet a choice that was necessary in growing my business to meet the needs of Tangie customers. The future goal, when the budget allows, is to turn wastefreeproducts.com into a curated marketplace where I can showcase many other fabulous low waste, natural, and eco products that I, and the Tangie team, use in our daily lives.
In response to your email this morning, where you threatened legal action for suppressing your review you posted 5 days ago I want to let you know we currently have 81 spam comments to review, and posting reviews to our site is not something we do weekly. We post and reply to them when we can.
For anyone else reading this, I want them to have an accurate understanding of why my reply is so lengthy.
Here is the exact email I received from Marty this morning …
“I recently purchased your product and posted a review on your website. However, the review is not present. I ask that you post my review within 7 days. If you do not, I will investigate taking action against Tangie LLC for false advertisement by your company and green-washing. This will be in relation to both your “package free” statement, which is not true, and to the “no plastic comment”, which is not true either as you used a piece of scotch tape. In addition, we will investigate how many negative reviews you have suppressed on your website and other platforms that your products are offered. The actions that we might take could be exposure to a plethora of green review sites to independently and investigate the facts about what you are doing, as well as potential legal actions. We hope that we see out review withing the week. Marty “
In closing, I will say, I am grateful for your feedback Marty, honestly, I wish more people cared about packaging like you do! I hope you will find some grace and understanding that Tangie LLC is doing the best we can every day to choose great ingredients, less wasteful packaging and shipping practices. Thank you, Angie

I love this laundry soap. I have not used commercial laundry soap in many years and this is by far the best product I have used – including the laundry soap I used to make. I use the recommended amount even though it doesn’t seem like enough and have lovely clean clothes.

I have been using this laundry paste for years and it still amazes me how small of an amount you need for a load of laundry. And I have never had any icky gasket funk or odor like I did with every major brand I used in my front loading washer.

Traditional brands have trained us well through marketing to use lots of laundry liquid per load, so it takes some retraining to get used to pouring in an ounce or less!
