For best results, pair this stain remover with Tangie Waste Free Laundry Concentrate to tackle your most stubborn stains.
Application: Keep the paper wrapper on the bar. Before use, hold the bar in your hand and push it out or peel down the wrapper to expose a usable section.
Rub the stain remover directly onto the stain, then launder and smile!
Pro Tip: Wet the stained area of fabric first to help the bar glide more easily. This makes it easier to cover more area.
For non-machinable items (like pillows, drapes, rugs, and pet beds), use a bucket of water and a rag or sponge. Dab the area with water and use a towel to soak up the excess.
Let it air dry before covering.
Fabrics: The Tangie Stain Remover Bar is easy and effective for spot treatment on almost all fabrics. Always spot test delicate and heirloom fibers first for best results.

Bar or Liquid: You Decide!
If you prefer a liquid stain remover, you can easily make one with the Tangie Stain Remover.
Just add water!
Dissolve the entire stick in 28 ounces of water.
Dissolve half the stick in 16 ounces of water.
Drop the bar into the water and let it dissolve overnight. (Chop the bar into smaller bits for quicker dissolution.)
Fill the liquid into your spray bottle and spray directly onto the stain.
You can also add the liquid to your washing machine as a stain remover boost to your laundry soap.
Note: The liquefied version is less concentrated than using the bar directly on the stain. Depending on your needs, you may want to adjust the concentration by dissolving it in less water.
The dissolved stain remover will have a thick, gelatinous consistency, which may be too thick for some household sprayers.

I used this in combination with the laundry concentrate bar, and overall, I was not very satisfied with the stain remover stick. I am very much involved in the sustainability and zero waste movement and try to make every area of my life align with that mission as much as possible, so, of course, my goal was to make my laundry routine as waste-free as possible. So in seeing this product, I was really excited to try it out. I compared many different products similar to this and looked at ingredients, and they seem to be the best size for the price. Most of the stains that I tried it on were your standard stains, like dirt and food. I also use this product on one of my white North Face coats, because the sleeves were extremely grimy from being in contact with everything that my hands were doing throughout the day. This was the only product I noticed a difference in before and after washing. Before I put my coat in the washing machine, the cuffs were a very solid black color, and after taking it out and drying it, they were slightly less grimy, but it was still definitely not clean. I used this stain stick many times on a variety of different fabrics for different stains, including some like pasta stains on a white shirt, and I never noticed a difference in the before and after. As mentioned in my other review about the concentrate laundry bar, I think this product swung too far in the eco-direction while compromising its ability to clean through the ingredients, and that’s why this bar just doesn’t work. I like the concept of the product and enjoyed using it as it was nice to use my laundry care routine as an opportunity to practice mindfulness in the physical application of the laundry stain stick. I would really love to see another version of this released with stronger cleaning ingredients because everything about this product is perfect except for the fact that it doesn’t get rid of stains, which is its only purpose. I would rather spend a bit more money on something that has stronger cleaning ingredients. It might not be as eco-friendly, knowing that I’m going to get a good clean. If I have to worry if a product is going to fix the purpose it was created for, I don’t think it’s a very effective product. At less than $8.50, taking a gamble on this wasn’t that big of a deal, but I was definitely disappointed about its performance and would not recommend this nor buy it again. With that being said, I love the mission of the company and would love to try out a next-gen version of the stain stick with more effective ingredients. Thank you for reading.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and detailed review, Ava. We truly appreciate your honesty and the care you’ve put into evaluating the product—especially as someone who is clearly committed to sustainability and mindful living.
While we’re glad you gave the stain remover stick a try, we’re genuinely sorry to hear it didn’t meet your expectations. We’ve received many positive reviews over the years and know that for many, it’s become a go-to solution. That said, we also understand that stain removal is not one-size-fits-all. With the wide variety of stain types, fabric weaves, and how long a stain has been set, no single bar will work for every situation—and we would never claim that ours can do it all.
We always recommend treating stains as quickly as possible, since older or set-in stains are much more difficult to remove—especially when using non-toxic, plastic-free alternatives like ours. We’ve made the intentional choice to avoid harsh synthetic ingredients, which means the trade-off is sometimes a gentler performance, but one that aligns with our values around ingredient safety and environmental impact.
We appreciate that you value the concept and mission behind Tangie, and we hear your desire for a next-gen version with stronger ingredients. We’re always exploring new formulations that remain in line with our standards, and feedback like yours helps us weigh those possibilities thoughtfully.
Thank you again for your transparency and for supporting eco-conscious companies. We’re grateful to have your voice in this conversation.

This stain remover stick is gentle yet effective. I was able to remove an old ring of tinted sunscreen from the inside of my hat. I have a feeling it’ll last me a while.

The stain remover stick has so far been excellent. It’s taken out every stain but one, so I think that still rates a 5. I have given it as gifts and two people have told me it’s worked for them. One of them used the stick to remove a stain that was several years old.

I was duly impressed with this stain stick!!! I used it on some previously washed and dried items that had some “questionable” stains and still got them out! So far, so good. Like anything, however, I am sure if some stain is quite old, it could be challenging for any product. Wash the item sooner, use the stick in the beginning and everything is coming out clean!! Thanks!!!

When a person who handles fabric for a living tells us they are impressed with the Tangie stain remover bar – well, we couldn’t be happier! Thank you for your kind review, Dianne.

So far it works pretty well for most stains. I still have to rely on harsher chemicals for some of the older or harder to remove stains, unless I’m washing it right when it gets stained.

We know stains are difficult, so many combinations of stain makers and fabrics. Glad to know that our mighty stain remover is working well for you on most stains. Thank you for taking time to leave a review.

Keep it dry and it lasts pretty long without breaking down. The paper wrap around it came in falls apart quickly, though, so plan on storing it on a tray or separate piece of paper or something.
It works fairly well. It removed most stains on most fabrics and *mostly* removed harder stains like yellow sweat stains on cotton armpits.

Thank you for your insight on the packaging! We recently started packaging the Tangie stain remove stick in a paperboard box for easy and dry storage between uses. So your next stick when arrive in a really cute yellow box that can be home composted when the bar is all used up.
