SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES are exempt from labeling requirements and often hidden as “trade secrets.” These may include phthalates, which are linked to asthma flare-ups, headaches, allergic reactions, and possible long-term nervous system effects. Tangie’s Unscented Shampoo Bar contains no fragrances—no masking agents, no fillers—just truly fragrance-free care.
PARABENS are preservatives commonly found in cosmetics and have been suspected of disrupting hormones. Some studies suggest a link between parabens and breast cancer, particularly concerning with products applied near breast tissue daily.
SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE (SLS)/SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES) are harsh detergents with nearly 16,000 toxicity studies listed in PubMed. Found in many shampoos and cleansers, they can irritate skin and strip away natural oils. Tangie bars use a mild, coconut-derived cleanser instead.
1,4-DIOXANE is a known carcinogen created as a byproduct in the manufacturing process of SLS/SLES. While not intentionally added, it contaminates many conventional shampoos. We ensure our bars are free from this hidden hazard.
PROPYLENE GLYCOL is often used to help ingredients penetrate the skin. It can act as a primary irritant and has been linked to possible liver and kidney concerns. You won’t find it in Tangie products.
TRICLOSAN is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the chlorophenol class, suspected of being carcinogenic and harmful to hormone balance. We never include it in our formulations.
