How to use the foaming hand soap refill and dispenser

The dissolved Tangie Hand Wash Concentrate makes a luxurious soap in foaming dispensers.

MUST DISSOLVE FIRST!

You determine the dilution ratio based on how bubbly you like your hand soap.

STARTING RATIO>>

OPTION 1: Makes enough liquid to fill the dispenser twice.

Cut the bar into 8 equal parts.

Slice the long way first. Then cut the bar in half two times on the short side. That will give you 8 equal pieces.

Drop one part (about .35 gram) into 2 cups of water.
Let sit until dissolved. About 2-3 hours.
Fill the dispenser, twist on the pump, and dispense as usual.

If you like a more bubbly hand washing experience, use less water on your next batch.

OPTION 2: Cut concentrate into pieces and dissolve as needed.

Cut the bar into 16 equal parts.

Slice the long way first. Then cut the bar in half on the short side. Then cut each half in half twice. You will have 16 equal pieces. It’s ok if they are not exactly the same size… we won’t tell anyone :)

Fill the dispenser with water just above the curve in the bottle to leave room for the dispenser. Drop one piece of the Unscented Hand Wash Concentrate into the bottle, twist on the pump and let the hand soap concentrate completely dissolve. Dispense as usual.

The piece of concentrate will dissolve within a couple of hours. No hot water, no stirring or mixing required.

What ingredients we don’t use and why

SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES are exempt from labeling requirements and regarded as “trade secrets”. There is no way to determine what the individual ingredients are and may include phthalates. These have been linked with aggravation of asthma, headaches, allergic reactions and possible long term central nervous system disorders.
PARABENS Found in many cosmetics as a preservative. Suspected link between parabens and breast cancer. Be sure to avoid deodorant containing parabens since it’s applied close to the breast area, every day for many, many years.
SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE (SLS)/SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES) There are nearly 16,000 studies in the PubMed science library about the toxicity of this chemical that can be found on the SLS page on Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) website. It is present in nearly all shampoos, scalp treatments, hair color and bleaching agents, toothpastes, body washes and cleansers, make-up foundations, liquid hand soaps, and laundry detergents. Although SLS originates from coconuts, the chemical is anything but natural.
1,4-DIOXANE Any discussion of SLS/SLES must include a discussion of 1,4 dioxane because the manufacturing process of SLS/SLES results in its being contaminated with 1,4 dioxane—a known carcinogen. (NOT to be confused with Dioxin)
PROPYLENE GLYCOL is Primarily used as a solvent and an aid to absorption through the skin. The main concerns are that this material may be a primary skin irritant and there are possible links to liver abnormalities and kidney damage.
TRICLOSAN Primarily added to cosmetics as an anti-bacterial agent. It belongs to a class of chemicals known as chlorophenols and is suspected of causing cancer in humans.
PHOSPHATES Phosphorous is like a fertilizer in our water system. It increases algae and aquatic weed growth, the oxygen needed for healthy fish and aquatic life is depleted.

I love this product. For one, it is incredibly economical. The bottle is gorgeous. After purchasing the kit I thought of the bottle being glass and sliding around on my sink top. No worries. The base is skid proof! The pump itself is great too. I’ve used other foaming and non-foaming hand soaps and the soap would squirt everywhere. Not with this pump. A superb product for both people and the environment.

The amber glass jar holds 8 oz. of soap. The entire dispenser measures 6.5″ tall with a 2.6″ base diameter.

Two years. After two years, the oils in the bar may start to break down and become rancid (aka won’t smell as great) but the hand wash will still be effective. Once dissolved, we recommend you use within a few months.

What ingredient kills germs in your handwash concentrate?

Great question. It’s not actually ingredients in soap that kills germs is the molecular makeup of soap that does it. Simply put, the soap attaches to the pathogens on your skin and they rinse away with the water. The molecular make-up of soap is why soap is so effective at removing germs from your skin.

Does the Hand Wash Concentrate work in pumpers that aren’t foaming?

Thank you for asking. Yes, it can. We’ve had many customers give positive results using a pumper of their choice that is not a foamer. Other people do not like it. Because there is such a variety of pumpers on the market, we can not guarantee your pumper will work as you intended. It is always best to refill and use something you already have but keep in mind, we recommend foaming pumpers because of the thin consistency of the liquid soap once it is dissolved.
